The Observatarium: Site & Story

Saint Patrick, Missouri · Weather, sky, and discovery

A place to look up

The Donald D. Dalton Memorial Observatarium brings together an interest in the night sky, changing weather, and the tools that help us observe both. This page follows the place itself: its equipment, the work behind it, and the photographs that will document its development.

The instruments and projects

All-sky camera

A fisheye camera using INDI All Sky is part of the Observatarium’s sky-watching work. Public access to the camera is being prepared.

Weather station

An on-site weather station is part of the project. A direct station link will be added when it is ready; the home page already offers satellite and weather-radar resources.

Flight tracking

A local FlightAware receiver adds another way to explore the activity overhead. A public connection will be added when ready.

Seestar telescope

Remote observing with the Seestar telescope is planned. Access details will be shared when the setup is ready.

How it is being made

The story of the Observatarium will grow here through construction photographs, equipment installations, and notes about how the different parts were put together. More pictures and firsthand details are on the way.

Around the site

Future additions will show the Observatarium’s surroundings and the equipment in place, giving a closer look at the setting behind the sky and weather observations.

The friendship behind the name

The Observatarium is dedicated to Donald Dean Dalton, my “Astronomical Friend.” His generosity with telescopes, practical ideas, and shared evenings under the stars is remembered in our photo and document collection.
